RTD Tennis Tournament Supports Programs and Infrastructure
Hastings Rivertown Days Tennis Tournament showcases some of the best tennis players in the area. It is also HTA’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the tournament support HTA programs and tennis facility improvements. The 2016 tournament generated revenues of $5,338 and after expenses of $1,146, net tournament income was $4,192. The 2016 net income was placed in a capital fund specifically designated for future facility improvements.
In 2016, substantial improvements were made to the high school courts:
As a result of contributions from the Lyle Steffenson Family, United States Tennis Association, Hastings High School and District 200, HTA did not have to contribute to the above expenses; however, there are some new improvements in the works such as new player benches, additional electrical outlets, a message board and landscaping where HTA funds will be needed. These new improvements will be made in the spring of 2017. In addition, HTA is working with Hastings Parks and Recreation to hire an independent consultant to evaluate the Roadside Tennis Courts.
To all our tournament participants, tournament workers and many spectators, HTA and the Hastings tennis community thank you.
