2021 Free Tennis Options Middle School Students
Pizza and Tennis (Grades 5-8)
Hastings High School Tennis Courts
Saturday, May 15th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Join us for an awesome evening of tennis and pizza. Whether you’ve played on the middle school teams or have never touched a racket before, this event is for you. There will be tennis games to introduce the newbie to the sport of tennis as well as match play for those more experienced players but most importantly, this event is designed to ensure all participants will have fun. Come by your self or bring a friend. This will also be a great opportunity to learn more about HTA programing for middle school players. This is a free event but players are encouraged to register.
The Registration "Middle School Match Play, Drills and Lessons" is not currently available.
Sunday Fundays (Grades 5-8)
2nd and 4th Sunday of each month (June, July, August) from 6:00pm-8:00pm
On the 2nd Sunday this event will be held at the Hastings High School Tennis Courts and on the 4th Sunday, this event will be held at the Roadside Tennis Courts
Join us for a night of fun activities. We will have tennis games, tennis matches/drills, and a different mystery activity and snack at the end! Students will be split into like-ability groups to ensure a fun and competitive atmosphere. First night will be June 13. This is a free event but players are asked to register to ensure we have the best coach to player ratio as possible.
2021 Tennis Programing for Middle School Players
Pre-Season Tune-Up (Grades 5-8)
Hastings High School Courts
Fridays and Sundays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (dates below)
Drills and match play designed for players who want to get a jump start on the summer season. Drills will focus on footwork, forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads and serves.
Sign-up is per session and the cost is as follows:
One to two sessions $10 each session
Three to four sessions $9 per session
All five sessions $40 for all sessions
Lessons for Middle School Age Beginners
Three 90-minute lessons designed for players with little or no tennis experience. Participants will learn the basics of each stroke with players of similar abilities. After completing one of our beginning tennis sessions, players are encouraged to participate in drills, Junior Team Tennis and HTA free events designed for middle school players. A minimum of 4 players required, so sign-up with a friend. Cost is $30 per player.
Session I May 25, 26 and 27 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the High School Courts
Session II June 1, 2 and 3 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the High School Courts
Session III June 8, 9 and 10 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Roadside Tennis Courts
Session IV June 11, 12 and 13 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Middle School Tennis Courts

Drills and Match Play (Grades 5 to 7)
Hastings High School Courts
Drills and match play for players with some tennis experience. Drills will focus on creating technical proficiency and improving a player's ability to construct points with an emphasis on footwork. There will be two three sessions as follows:
Tuesday and Thursday (June 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 & July 1) from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Tuesday and Thursday (July 13, 20, 23, 27, 29 & August 3) from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
* Not scheduling Thursday, July 15, due to the RTD Tourney
The cost is $90 per session.
Junior Team Tennis
Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is a USTA sanctioned program for players desiring to play weekly matches against teams from neighboring communities. USTA Junior Team Tennis brings together boys and girls to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other coed teams. Beyond being fun and a great form of exercise, Junior Team Tennis is a competitive, level-based environment that promotes individual growth, social growth and life skills. HTA's interns and high school coaches are available to give private, semi-private or small group lessons.
