On May 14, 2016, seventeen Hastings High School students participated in a Coach Youth Tennis Workshop led by Tony Stingley, Director of Training and Outreach for USTA Northern.  The workshop is part of the new on-court training program developed by the PTR, USOC, USPTA and USTA.

The purpose of the workshop is to prepare instructors to teach young players to:

  • Develop a love of the game -- so children love to play and compete and become lifelong tennis players.
  • Develop sound technical and tactical skills.
  • Learn how to plan and organize engaging practices as well as how to deal with larger groups and mixed abilities.

The participating students will be active in HTA's outreach programs which takes tennis into summer daycare facilities.
